Mrs. Murray

Hello Santa Cruz family! My name is Mrs. Murray and I am delighted to be serving SCCS as your first school counselor!

My family and I have lived in our lovely town of Buda since 2003 and we are proud to be SCCS parishioners. We have one son who graduated from Santa Cruz and is currently a junior at St. Michael's Catholic Academy in Austin. I am a huge animal lover and you can always find me talking about my latest pet rescue or trying to pull a stray cat out of a tree in hopes of getting it into a safe home. I am also passionate about gardening, photography, baking, the beach and hockey in case you want to discuss those things too!

I have been in the field of education since 1993 and became a school counselor in 1999. Before my counseling career I was an art teacher and I love to incorporate art into my counseling lessons whenever possible. I have worked with both elementary and secondary students in south Texas and in the Austin area.

As the school counselor I provide weekly classroom guidance on various topics such as: social and emotional lessons (SEL), managing stress/anxiety, coping with peer pressure and developing healthy friendship skills. I conduct some small counseling groups during the year as needed and may see students for brief individual counseling. I also assist families with mental health resources at parent request for longer, ongoing therapeutic needs.
